I think it is plausible that KF might not have known about the  racial
slurs and degradation. He seems to delegate to the coaches and stays out of
the weeds. If no one came to him with issues (likely for fear of
recrimination), then he may not have known or thought that there was this
level of concern. I am not making excuses, but it is as plausible to me as
the fact that he would turn a blind eye to it.

And to be honest, as a former collegiate athlete at Iowa, there is always a
component of breaking you down to build you up - regardless of race. It is
inexcusable to introduce racism into that, but it is not surprising to me.
I lived with black football players in the summers and they certainly had
love for Hayden Fry and his entire staff, but felt like they were in boot
camp.
