For all I know he saw Charlie Jones on the sidelines and thought he was an eligible receiver.   Petras has clearly had his moments but I just looked at the stats of 8 of the other QBs in the Big Ten (Fields not one of them) and he is very comparable - a little better than some and a little worse than others.  Maybe COVID has impacted all the QBs not having Spring ball and the normal summer with the receivers.  Petras would be impacted more than most of the others as a first-year guy.

I stand corrected. Clearly, I was on a sugar high when I typed this. He did get better, but I am getting flashbacks of 'Stanzi balls'......I usually try to stay positive. 6-2 after an 0-2 start is pretty damn good!

Last week he throws a really bad interception when he should have just thrown the ball away.  Prior weeks he forced passes that were not there. This week there were 2-3 passes (including this one) where he did not see anything and just threw it away.   I am happy with the progress.  Hopefully the next step is that the throw aways are a little closer so he does not get the grounding call.

I have not seen a lot of impressive blocking going on. Either have I been impressed by the play calling. Petras and his accuracy/touch is no surprise, although I see absolutely no reason why he threw that 'Intentional Grounding' pass. There was no one even in that zip code......
