I think it is more likely the players decide to leave because they know they will not be playing both from their practice observations and candid discussions with coaches.. The exception is Dale Jones, who was probably told his scholarship would not be renewed after he graduated, to make room for both Garza and Nunge. Christian Williams departing seemed to be a surprise to the coaching staff because of the timing, so he was not asked to leave. It probably became clear to Christian in fall practice that the playing time at wing he had hoped for was unlikely because of the play of other wings and he would be limited to a few minutes a game behind Bohannon. Connor seemed to be outplaying him at guard, so Christian's senior year would be even worse, with Conner and two new guards competing for the minutes. Therefore, leaving now at the semester would maximize the time he had to play at another school.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be a fly on the wall to hear the discussions with players who are leaving. Is there any thought that the players are asked to leave because they will not be playing? You know, a slight push out the door. 



I guess there are different ways of putting it, but it’s really good for the player and the team if he isn’t going to play.
