[Herky] NCAA Wrestling Championships

Jeff, thanks for all the updates and stats. Iowa should be pretty well
assured of taking home the fourth place trophy, which is about the best
result we could have expected. I'd made a comment earlier about what I
think is the lack of progress around the Iowa program. We haven't been a
factor in the team race since our last title in 2010 (the last year of
the Virginia Tech class). I've been tracking the top eight teams in the
tournament and here are some facts: Iowa returns 38.5 tournament points
to next year's team. Contrast this with Oklahoma State returning 80,
Ohio State with 106 and Penn State with 117.5. This is before any points
are added in during the finals and the Penn State total is without any
contribution from Suriano who was injured. Looks like a pretty steep
hill to climb in the near term.

My understanding is the tonight's finals will start at 197, meaning it's
like a Penn State dual meet for the last five bouts. Fans may want to
turn down the sound on ESPN for those matches and listen to the radio
call from Penn State. Jeff Byers is definitely a home team announcer but
he gets pretty fired up and is entertaining to listen to. You can find
the link to the broadcast on the Penn State website and it's free to
listen to.
