While I am disappointed in the regressive results this year, I am happy with the progress from the dark days of Lickliter. I see the present situation caused by two things. First, both the Junior and Senior classes have been comparative busts, with the best player from that group being a walk-on (Baer). Defensive communication is something learned with time and playing together. The constant deep rotations don't help in that regard either.</span></p></div><div><p class="ydp9e90a285yiv7073162074MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;">Second, Iowa's recruiting focus has shifted to shooting and away from defense. The two players coming in next year are both known as great shooters so probably won't help the defense much.
