I'll address both.</div><div><br></div><div>Basketball first: Outsiders look at Iowa and see a young team that missed the 68 team NCAA tournament last year and loses the Big Ten's leading scorer from that team. They were the worse defensive team in the league last year. Iowa still relies heavily on sophomores and unproven freshmen and will not get the benefit of the doubt on improved defense until they show it.</div><div><br></div><div>Football: Iowa has an extremely unfavorable schedule with cross divisional opponents Penn State, Michigan State, and Ohio State while playing their toughest inter divisional opponents on the road. They started the least experienced, most unproven, quarterback in the Big Ten and were very questionable at wide receiver. On defense, Iowa had question marks at defensive tackle after losing two good ones to the pros and were unproven in the secondary after losing Desmond King and (apparently) Brandon Snyder.
