I think that an all-world quarterback would make even the sorriest offense look better than terrible just because of the position and the talent.  We may have a good quarterback.  Who knows?  We do know that he is not all world.

 

But this presser, and most comments by the great unwashed like me, just tend to harp and harp and harp on QB play.  

 

How can we go downfield when the O Line can’t hold the defense for more than about 1.5 seconds?  How can a receiver get downfield?  How can a running back look all world without speed and blocking?  How can the QB be blamed for poor routes?  How can the QB be blamed for sorry play design and calling?

 

This is a BAD offense (so far), and not the QB’s fault totally.  Why change when there is no support and no all world QB waiting in the wings?

 

Yes SP misses targets.  Most college QB’s do.  That’s on him.  But it’s a small portion of the reason this offense stinks.

 

This whole farce goes back more than just a year or two.  It must be bad recruiting, bad development, bad play design.  Coaches determine a lot of the good and bad.  The school has given the program great facilities, the school pays the coaches well, the fans show up and contribute to the many requests for funds.  All is in place for the coaches to execute over a long term period of time.

 

Good success has occurred most of the tenure of Kfz.  He has really done well with the circumstances he operates under over the years.  

 

Unfortunately, the trend is in the down arrow position.  

 

Firing everyone and starting over probably is not a good short term solution. We fans want to win now, not four years from now.

 

Like I said, I’m among the great unwashed, so don’t ask me for a solution.
