It's a Catch-22 situation
No running game, because of no passing threat.
No passing game, because of no running threat.
Weak offensive line or not, Spencer Petras missed many makeable throws. He does not appear to react quickly to a breakdown in the ILines. He is not able to sidestep or run away from defensive linemen. Looks like a deer caught in headlights and collapses wherever he is. Had a chance to pick up the errant ball and make a play out of it. But he took a 12-yard sack instead. SP is a bad QB and there are no two ways about it.
How come we seem to have players in a plug & play mode on the D side and even see a clear improvement over time but see no such improvement on the offensive side?  It must be the coaches then.  SP made no progress over the time at Iowa and looks like he regressed.
Will we get over .500 this season at this rate?
Scary season ahead. 😡😡😡😡

The offensive line was far below average, worse than last year without Tyler Linderbaum. The running game is weaker without Goodson and there were no holes to run through generated by that inept offensive line. Petrus is the worst starting QB in the Big Ten, certainly the west division, but I don't see Padilla as any better. The de3fense outscored the offense the hard way, but I don't see that continuing.

Very poor half of football offensively to start the year. How long before Petras gets the hook?
Offensive line was very average. SDS correctly doesn’t respect our passing game so are filling the box to slow the run game.
Sure not impressed with the play calling either.
