[Herky] Iowa Basketball

I think the starters were the 5 best offensive players. Perkins is a combo guard and the only choice for point since the other 4 starters were all 6'8" or 6'9" forwards or center. Ahron Ulis or highly touted Freshman Dasonte Bowen are the true point guards. Since it was just a scrimmage, it was probably something Fran was trying out to see if it worked. The question might be how well Sandfort can defend the 2. He would help Iowa's three point shooting if he can.

Starters were not a surprise, but I was a little surprised that evidently Perkins started at the point. Or who else was at that position?

If you want to forget about football, men's basketball starts a week from today with an exhibition game. This past Saturday they had a "secret" scrimmage with Kansas City from the Summit League.

Iowa City radio personality Suterman had this description on Hawkeye Report, from an inside source:

Okay I have some info for you. In the 1st 20 min. scrimmage Iowa won by about 10. Patrick w/ 21, Rebraca 11 and Kris 11. Starters were Perkins, Sandfort, Patrick, Kris and Rebraca.
the 10 minute games were both won by Iowa.
Perkins played well. Patrick played well, Kris was the best player on the floor. Ulis and Bowen played well and played together a fair amount. Kris and Sandfort were not great from 3.
Ogundele made a few plays but still out of condition.
