You nailed it, Keith!
This is the best offensive Iowa team I've seen since I started following
Hawkeye basketball some 40 years ago, but their defense is - at best -
mediocre. They seem to constantly be out of position and are much too slow
to react (except maybe for Murray).  If you get a chance, take a look at
around the 13 minute mark of the second half.  Captures it all - the
Illinois guy (can't recall who it was) on the baseline just outside the arc
is WIDE open with not a single defender anywhere within the same zip code
(of course, the fact that the bozo missed the jumper is a different
story...).
Like you, I don't see this changing - I think most games our offense can
overcome poor defense but if the offense decides to take a break (like it
did against the Hoosiers) or it faces a team that is quick and hard on
defense (like the Illini last night) we're in trouble.
Honestly, I thought Iowa was the better team last night and when they got
the ball back (after foiling the inbounds play right near the end) I really
thought they'd tie the game with a 3 - wasn't to be I guess :-(
h well, I'm still enjoying watching this team!
