They showed some fight last night, but I think they were really gassed the last 10 minutes or so.

Advancing in the tourney will rest on the shooting percentage.  It it’s 45 to 55%, their defense plays off it and plays better.  When they have bad shooting nights, they often play poorly on the defensive end (especially the past 4 weeks.

I think Iowa’s B1G opponents learned a lot about how to effectively defend Bohannon and Cook as the season wore on. Iowa didn’t adjust well and didn’t prepare as well for their opponents late in the season.  Bohannon can’t find a way to free himself for shots, and Cook loses his aggressiveness and seems to get rattled when he’s pressured in the box by a double-team or dribbles into traffic to get closer to the bucket.  They will be at an advantage in the Big Dance in that their opponents won’t be able to scout as much to get prepared.

I liked the way Moss played last night in that he was a lot more aggressive than usual.  But he missed quite a few easy shots.

I think it is apples and oranges when you try to compare the men's game where it is played above the rim and every shot is going to be contested and women's  where that is not the case. 

I am thinking that the men don't have a very high BB IQ.  During the first part of the game they are scoring consistently inside and the 3 pointers are not falling. The game is close.  So let's start quick shooting 3 pointers rather than run the offense and get the ball inside.

The other thing about Iowa is that I always knew that they would fight to the very end. There have been lots of teams that were not very good but I was still proud of them because they fought.  I am not sure I can say that about this team.

I am upset even more after watching Megan G. finish off attempts to score at such a high consistent rate, from difficult angles and under double and triple team pressure.
Hope the lady Hawkeyes will give us something to cheer about in the tournament.
I doubt the men will go much beyond the first round and I would be happy to eat crow if they prove me wrong. :-)

Painful indeed
Has Cook improved his game from his freshman year?
Can he score consistently without the attempt being a dunk?
Can he hang onto the ball in traffic?  Does he small hands?
For all his athletic ability he is...……………………..

What is JB doing on the team if he cannot score or set up a score?
He cannot defend is already well known.

Why do we keep missing baskets at the rim?

There is always next year
It has been so for so many years.
