Agree.  If just 3 or 4 three’s would have dropped along with a few bunnies that were missed, we would have had a real game.  MSU might have won, but it would have been a much more competitive second half.

 

You can blame the defense and rebounding for good reason, but the shooting was off and I think that was the primary difference in the game.

I thought Iowa played great defense for the entire first half.  During that 24-2 run in the 2nd half, they lost it. And despite getting some good looks on offense, particularly in the first half, they missed way too many of them —bunnies, 5 footers, 10 footers,  and 20+ footers. Michigan State has a better team and tonight they beat down the Hawks - albeit for only a 15 minute stretch, but a very brutal and ugly stretch.

I like this team but this game clearly shows the gap between the really good teams and the teams like Iowa.  MSU would win 9 or 10 out of 10 games if they kept playing and most of those would be be 10 or more points.  The better teams expose the Iowa weaknesses.  Iowa is playing better defense than last year but against the good teams you see that it is sub par.   Iowa is not a very good rebounding team and MSU exposed that.  Wieskamp is a good player and will be very good but he is not yet ready for teams like MSU. And Bohannon  is easily shut down by a team like MSU. He has to take 25 footers to get his shot and even then he is rushing it.

Iowa was ahead 50-42, then was outscored 40-17 the rest of the way, giving uo 50 points in the second half.
