[Herky] Convince me otherwise

I find these rating very interesting and it seems to be form people who know what they are talking about. I would have thought the defense would grade out a little higher than they did especially when compared to offense. I guess the defense as a whole is better than the parts.

Curtis, I agree with you on some things, but am undecided on others.

For a large part of the game yesterday, the O-line did not give Stanley time to set up and let the receivers run their routes. Everything was hurried. Receivers need time to get out there. The OL’s deficiencies were also apparent with the running game. As this game wore on, the DL for the Clowns wore down and our line was more effective and the passing game improved.

Receivers are dropping passes.

Stanley is not consistent with his accuracy. Given decent time to throw, his consistency should improve.

The coaches are not calling “interesting” pass routes. See above line difficulties, but there is not much downfield activity. It’s the same philosophy of realizing the game is 60 minutes, so we just keep pounding and pounding and rely on the defense to hold the opponent down. If we pound long enough, we may just score enough to win.

In this case, ISU showed a really good defense. Give them credit.

All,

I am not a pessimist by nature, but I am very convinced that Nate Stanley is a liability (and the receivers, to a lesser degree). I did not see him making solid reads, he looked uncomposed at times, threw uncatchable balls under no real pressure, does not really run when that should be an option, and throws 5 yard passes when 8 yards is needed. If this keeps up, I hate to say it but he will be the primary reason we lose games moving forward. The receivers, as I mentioned, may not be getting separation, but I cannot fault them for the passes being spot on (except for the pass to Fant in Week #1).

I am not advocating for a QB change (yet), but this is going to get real serious, real quick if there is not a significant change in his ability to be a field general.

Convince me otherwise, PLEASE!
