Wieskamp has a quick step, can slash hard and finish.  Good rebounder with some hops.  Played good defense too, but the opponents looked like a high school team – totally out-manned and no size at all.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wieskamp start, with Baer in his usual first off the bench role. Wieskamp looks very poised and polished for a youngster.

Dailey was smooth, and I thought Pemsl played well.  Looks like he lost about 15 pounds.  Cook improved his ball handling and hit a trey.  He was throwing better passes then McCaffery was. Looks like he worked a lot on his lower body strength.

They hit 12 of 28 threes, but most were uncontested.

C.J. Frederick took the redshirt, so it looks like Riley Till will be the #12 guy.

Bohannon will be ready to play in the next game.

Iowa wins 103-46 which was expected. Pretty hard to take too much out of it but I probably will anyway.



The top 10 guys played between 13 and 22 minutes and scored between 8 and 14 points except for Baer who did not score.  Wieskamp led them with 14 points.



- My early prediction  - Wieskamp will be on the 1st or 2nd Big Ten freshman team.  He is definitely not the 9th best player on the team.

- Cook had 7 assists which is encouraging. The whole team really looked to share the ball.

- The two guys that stood out to me were Wieskamp (partially because I had not seen him before) and Dailey.

- Connor had a rough game as he was not shooting well and he also forced some bad passes.

-  I think Fran is going to have a hard time not playing 10-11 guys.

Wieskamp and McCaffery in the starting lineup.  Bohannon sits it out with a bruised hip.

Probably not a difference maker this year.  Right now, he’s probably #9 in the rotation behind McCaffery, Pemsl, and Nunge, right?  But maybe ahead of Kriener, Dailey, Frederick?  Could be different in January of course.

The team is deep again, but how many will play defense besides Moss and Garza?  Can Weiskamp play D?  Baer is active, but gets beat on D quite a lot.  Same for Dailey.  McCaffery could be a good defender. That will help, especially if a healthy Bohannon is still relatively weak in defending the dribble-drive.

I am interested seeing Weiskamp.  Is he a difference maker or another good player like the rest of the guys on this team?
