[Herky] Wagner

If he red shirts, he will have only one year left if he transfers. He can have two years at Iowa without red shirting. With Ellingson gone also, that will allow Conner McCaffery a scholarship and another opening (2 if Cook leaves). What does Iowa basketball need most, a defensive stopper and a quick point guard? Are there suitable freshmen available or is a graduate transfer possible?

"Wagner has two years of eligibility left ... if he stays at Iowa. If he were to transfer to another team, he would have to sit out a year per NCAA rules. There’s no word where he’s looking to put on the pads, but Iowa isn’t necessarily ruled out. He would also have two years of eligibility if he were to transfer to an FCS program (sup, Youngstown State?).

This frees up another scholarship for an Iowa basketball team that has a lot of holes to fill in its roster. It’s also worth noting that Isaiah Moss is the lone recruit left on the roster from the class of 2015, which included Christian Williams, Dale Jones, Brandon Hutton, Andrew Fleming and Wagner."

Lots of people were hoping he would switch to football. But I bet that when he announced they were hoping he would say that he was staying at Iowa. He certainly did not give any indication of that at this point. He has not red shirted so he could go most anywhere and build the body for a year and then have two years left.
