[Herky] Iowa Defense

Has anyone noticed how Baer tends to reach a lot with his hands as a guy is driving on him, seemingly trying to tip the ball away?  This is counter-productive, because he should be concentrating on his footwork to get in position to stay in front of the guy.  He is losing his man on the dribble in many cases.

  In this image, the Hawks are in a man-to-man defense. Cook is 12 feet off his man and Baer is trailing his man my 6 feet on a break to the hoop. It didn’t end well as Cook’s man drilled a 3-pointer. Poor spacing, getting easily beat off drives to the paint, poor recognition. Cook isn’t even looking at his man to see how the play is developing.
