Dennis I always have and always will respect your posts, but in spite of my high respect  I disagree here.  Our program should not wish to be like the other 124 teams.  An 8-4 record, which is close to the norm for us,  is good--how can you argue when you win twice as many as you lose.

But this year 10 wins or more was within spitting distance, and while QB play cannot be blamed for 4 losses, a few more completions to open receivers who could not get to the ball would really have helped getting us in the W column in those games.   IMHO, this team had the potential to be one of the best teams in Hawkeye history.  

My point is that if you want to win the B!G West, the B!G, make the playoffs and beyond, passing accuracy is a must.  When Stanley is on, we are really tough to beat.  When he is off, we are little better than average, and I don't think any of us wants just a little better than average.  I'm sure the coaches and players do not.

Yes, it would probably be nice if about 124 other D-1 QBs had the downfield accuracy of Haskins, along with 4 WRs who could be playing in the NFL this afternoon.

Wouldn’t it be nice if Stanley had the downfield accuracy as Haskins, the OSU QB?  Stanley has the arm. I just wish he had the ability to drop the ball where he wants it.
Remember Ryne Durham for the Yankees years ago?  He could throw the ball through a brick wall, but he had terrible eyesight and couldn’t even hit the brick wall.

Stanley has some serious work to do between now and September.
