. Xavier's uncle is A.J. Blazek, former Iowa Hawkeye and current OL coach at Rutgers (married his Mom's sister). His mom's father may also have played football at Iowa. I believe his father is an assistant basketball coach at William Penn.

“His parents have done a great job with him. It’s phenomenal what his dad is doing for him as far as the fundamentals of the game. His coaches, we work with him, but his dad works with him more because he’s with him every day and as a former player he’s done the best job. So, I give his dad a lot of credit,” Greer said. 

Foster comes from good stock, Greer said. His mother (volleyball) and father (basketball) are athletes.

When they started with the plan, Greer asked Foster where he wanted to play college basketball. 

“His grandfather and his mom’s brother in law played at Iowa. So, they’re big fans of Iowa. When I asked Xavier what school he wanted to go to the first thing he said was Iowa,” Greer said.

I have seen long ago reports he grew up as an Iowa fan. He may have a relative who played Iowa football. 

Note this from the Rivals recruiting guru: 
" Foster is going to draw heavy recruitment from blueblood schools. Kansas is already involved, but Iowa looks to be in the best spot for the in-state prospect."

There is no mention of his academic progress or interests. I sincerely hope that becomes a factor as he progresses through high school.

You have to figure the odds are against Iowa, Hopefully Iowa getting in early helps. Any one know if he grew up an Iowa fan?
