I’m surprised by their poor defensive play.  Many times, there have been opposing players getting into the paint and making easy buckets against guys that are a half foot taller.  Looks like the Hawks big guys can’t handle quicker, smaller players at the hoop.  They have poor footwork at times and are out of defensive position quite a lot.  Garza looks confused at times, understandably with his youth.  

Fran needs to fix the defense quickly.

Moss and Wagner had really bad games last night. Both seemed to be rushing and play out of control.  Pemsl was ok.

At this point I am writing off last night to youth.  They are still very young.  They are going to have some great victories and, especially when on the road, some very bad losses like Virginia Tech.  The question is how long will it take for them to come together?  I don't know, but hope it this year.

I really thought this team might be pretty good but I am having serious doubts right now.  Through 7 games I have not seen anything that makes me think this team is anything better than an 8th or 9th place team in the BT.  I guess the good news is that it looks like the BT is really weak this year. This team will be lucky to make the NIT.  Fran has a real challenge ahead of him.
