Bohannon really struggles on D against quick guards.  I don’t know if he’ll ever improve in stopping dribble-drive-to paint.  Same with Ellingson at times.  I like Dailey’s defense, and Moss too.  

I think McCaffery will be a better defender on guards, but as a true freshman, he’ll be learning on the fly against tougher competition than today’s.

Baer and McCaffery could be key players on D this year.

On another note, Texas Tech beat #20 Northwestern by 36 points last night.

Iowa loses 80-71. This loss really hurts as they lose to a higher rpi team. And because they lost they will now play two more games against high rpi teams. So if they are on the bubble at the end of the season which is where most everyone puts them they will probably be on the outside looking in. This team that played today will not be on the bubble.  Hopefully with Baer and McCaffery they become a bubble team. Like pretty much every year under Fran this team really needs to quick PG who can play some defense.  Not much hope for that for at least two years so they will probably continue to be a middle of the pack type team.



Positives for the game.

- Dailey played a lot and did well


- They shot 80% at the free throw line. Mostly due to the fact that guards took almost all the FTs.

We were wondering if we were hyping Iowa BB too much.  They are finally playing a better team and trail 37-17 at half.  The score is pretty representative of Iowa's play so far.   Louisiana is an athletic team and Iowa cannot defend them. They are also having a very hard time getting into their offense with the tough man to man that Louisiana is playing.



Bohannon, Cook and Moss are 3-17. Garza has yet to take  shot.



Iowa has 10 turnovers which is very high but Louisiana has 8 so that is the reason for the 20 point deficit.
