[Herky] Iowa - NW BB

They looked very tired.  So the second team played most of the 2nd half when
it was obvious this wasn't going to turn around.  The positive is that a
bunch of guys experienced some PT and can be evaluated better.

 

I won't even venture the name, but #15 was, again, a pleasant surprise
offensively.  He needs a lot of schoolhausen with his D, however.

 

Forget this one and move on.

There were only 2 positives that I can see. Kreiner continues to show he can
hit the 12-15 footer and maybe even out to 3 as he is 6-7 from the field.
The other is that Cook was 8-9 from the FT line.   Apparently they did not
learn much about the intensity that is needed to compete on the road in the
BT.

No energy, no interest in the last 12 minutes.  Iowa stepped in it. (as in
the barn)

 

Embarrassing.  By the way, Northwestern is good, very good.  But I thought
all the Hawks played poorly, except Cook.  Even Nick Baer didn't bring his
usual energy.

 

Flush it, and move on.

Iowa down by 12 at half.  They can make this a game but the defense and
rebounding must get much better.  NW shooting 54% and 41% from 3. On the
positive side the FT shooting by Cook has been very good and Kreiner
continues to do well with 6 first half points.  

 

Moss is playing in front of a lot of family and friends and I think he is
really pressing. Hopefully he can relax in the second half.

I thought Iowa wrestling was poor today but the BB team is making it look
like an All American performance.  No defense at all. Getting killed on
offensive boards.  A bunch of one on one on offense.  I expect lots of FR
mistakes  but can't understand the lack of effort. The good thing is as bad
as they are playing they can turn this around like they did against Purdue.
Can they do it on the road?
