[Herky] Iowa Beats Purdue in MBB

While Kreiner may develop more than we expect, Iowa does seem to be overbalanced with centers and power forwards in the future and playing time will be hard to come by for everyone. In addition to Pemsl, Cook, Wagner, and Kreiner, you have Nunge and Garza (both 6'11") coming in next year. Uhl and Jones, if they return, would be seniors and Baer sometimes plays the 4 as well. Competition will be fierce and I can see transfers. Some of these may be able to play the 3 if they develop an outside shot, but most seem to be better inside players.

Who do you mean when you say Reikert/Reikart? By deduction i think you mean Ryan Kreiner, freshman from Spirit Lake. He will be a valued contributor going forward, but will probably never be a starter with the talent on this team and the talent coming over the next few years.

Keith - I know you think I am too negative but I am just not that impressed with Reikart. He just seems to disappear when he gets in the game almost like he does not exist. :)

The Hawks may not finish at the top of the heap, but continued performances like last night may just get them an invitation to the dance.

I was really impressed with the team’s 2nd half defense and the play of Bohannon. He hit two huge threes, had 9 assists, just one turnover, and had to run the point for 36 minutes against a very tough defense.

What a effort by the Iowa players and congrats to the coaches for getting them prepared. 

Unbelievable game in that we outscored the Purdue team with their towering forwards 40-20 in the paint. 

It may have to do with their early success from the 3-point line. 

It is nice to see our center position look to be offensive minded compared to the last 4 years even though smaller than his counterpart and still come out ahead. 

Pemsl and Bohannon have been a real surprise and today Reikert had a few excellent minutes. 

Jok is carrying the team offensively on his shoulders. 



If we landed our FTs in the Neb game we would be tied at the top with MSU with identical records 

This is an exciting team to watch and they should be really matured by BTT and I am hoping for an even more improved showing the rest of the way. 

Am I being too greedy and what is wrong with it??
