[Herky] Stuck with Fran

Speaking of confidence, it appears to me that this team is not very confident at all. They are beating up on themselves. Bohannon is not having fun. Moss is not having fun. Those 2 guys really need to get their confidence back. Garza is getting a wake up call. Nunge gets a little lost at times.

I was disappointed with Cook, Moss, Baer, and a few other guys who seemed to be really doggin’ it on defense against the Hoosiers. Nobody got back on that last play of the game, except for Bohannon. 4 guys not even past half-court watching an Indiana player tip in a ball off a fast-break layup miss with about a tenth of a second left on the clock.

Let’s go Hawks.

OK
I will go with that. Like I said, the team can rebound, December basketball does not mean a ton but this team looks awful. Losing to Penn State at home for the first time since 2001 was not a confidence builder.

I am disappointed with the start but it does seem like there is a lot of over reaction. This is a close knit team and I think they will battle through this. Seems like the biggest issue to me is turnovers. They are currently 290th in the country and last in the BT in turnovers. Many of those are preventable - trying to force passes. Each of those is an empty possession for Iowa and often and easy basket for other team. Reduce the turnovers by 8 an you probably have a difference of 12+ points between extra Iowa points and reduced IN points. All of the sudden it is a pretty close game that can go either way.

Relax, fair weather fans. The ship will right itself. There's a lot of talent on this team, although they're obviously out of syc at the monent. Fran has done a good job bringing us back from the depths of the Lick years. He has been successful everywhere he's been. He has a good staff and they've recruited well the last few years. But if it makes you feel better to whine, bitch, complain and crucify the coach, so be it. If you can't step back from the edge...then jump! Who needs you anyway?

Yes, it is tongue in cheek. Perhaps I should have used a smiley face after the lickliter alford part.

The rest, just speculation on my part. There is a systemic problem, but I don't know what it is.

I assume this is tongue in cheek?

This team should be better, the talent is there and more is coming, but there is a problem beyond youth. They are playing sloppy and there is a reason, but it has not revealed itself yet. Dissension in the lock room? I don't know but it needs to get straightened out soon or this season is a lose.

I assume because he has two sons committed to the Hawks we are stuck with Fran for a few more years. But he has proven nothing in his six years and this season looks like it could be his worst team yet. His Philly personality is contrary to “Iowa nice” and hence I am joining the others and checking out of Iowa men’s BB. Even the announcers tonight were saying “terrible defense”, “awful offense” about the Iowa team.

I have been a continual supporter of KFz because his teams have always risen after bad years and his genuinely caring personality combined with Iowa roots as an assistant. I don’t see these traits in Fran.

      So sad.

      John
