[Herky] Stuck with Fran

Iowa’s record in Big Ten games was 34-20 in 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17. Very good record in a very tough league during those seasons. Five straight seasons finishing in upper tier of the conference. By the way, McCaffery got the team to the NCAA in 2013-14, albeit a ‘play-in’ game.

In my opinion, he’s an excellent coach. But everyone has one (an opinion).
And don’t worry, Ferentz will end up coaching Iowa for about 25 years, and will probably have more wins than any Iowa coach – forever.

Well the Hawkeyes have a solid hold on last place in the Big Ten with no wins and the worst overall record in the league. The ship is just about upside down right now so it’ll be tall task to right itself.

Yep, Fran has been successful in his past, but not in a prestige league such as the Big Ten.

After six years I expect more success than what we are experiencing. Not only are we losing, but the games are not even entertaining to watch (IMHO).

2016-17, NIT, one win

2015-16, NCAA, one win

2014-15, NCAA, one win

2013-14, NIT, no win

2012-13, NIT four wins

2011-12, NIT, one win

2010-11, no post season games

Relax, fair weather fans. The ship will right itself. There's a lot of talent on this team, although they're obviously out of syc at the monent. Fran has done a good job bringing us back from the depths of the Lick years. He has been successful everywhere he's been. He has a good staff and they've recruited well the last few years. But if it makes you feel better to whine, bitch, complain and crucify the coach, so be it. If you can't step back from the edge...then jump! Who needs you anyway?

Yes, it is tongue in cheek. Perhaps I should have used a smiley face after the lickliter alford part.

The rest, just speculation on my part. There is a systemic problem, but I don't know what it is.

I assume this is tongue in cheek?

This team should be better, the talent is there and more is coming, but there is a problem beyond youth. They are playing sloppy and there is a reason, but it has not revealed itself yet. Dissension in the lock room? I don't know but it needs to get straightened out soon or this season is a lose.

I assume because he has two sons committed to the Hawks we are stuck with Fran for a few more years. But he has proven nothing in his six years and this season looks like it could be his worst team yet. His Philly personality is contrary to “Iowa nice” and hence I am joining the others and checking out of Iowa men’s BB. Even the announcers tonight were saying “terrible defense”, “awful offense” about the Iowa team.

I have been a continual supporter of KFz because his teams have always risen after bad years and his genuinely caring personality combined with Iowa roots as an assistant. I don’t see these traits in Fran.

    So sad.

    John
