  Supply exceeds demand for Iowa-Rutgers

New Jersey wants to see Michigan and Penn State a lot more

Saturday’s Iowa-Rutgers game won’t be what you would call a scalper’s
paradise.

Online ticket marketplace StubHub lists a lot of tickets for the
Hawkeyes-Scarlet Knight game at under $20. The cheapest as of 11:30
a.m., Wednesday, were $13.

Compare that to Rutgers’ home games against Michigan on Oct. 8 or Penn
State on Nov. 19. StubHub’s cheapest available seats for those two are
$93 and $75, respectively.

If it’s any consolation to the Hawkeyes, the cheapest seats for the Nov.
5 Indiana-Rutgers tilt are a paltry $7.

Those numbers wouldn’t compute in Iowa City. The cheapest StubHub prices
for the remaining Hawkeyes home games are these:

Oct. 1: Northwestern $60

Oct. 22: Wisconsin $105

Nov. 12: Michigan $164

Nov. 25: Nebraska $69

That Black Friday game with the Cornhuskers has never set off stampedes
to Iowa’s ticket office. It’s a good day to watch games at home, but it
doesn’t seem like the world is all that thrilled about traveling to go
to them.

But $13 for Iowa-Rutgers? There’s work to be done selling Scarlet
Knights football.
