Dale Jones was to be out 8-9 weeks after his injury, so should be back around the middle of January. However he was not an effective man to man defender because his Junior College only played zone and his various injuries have slowed his learning of Fran's defenses. I agree Baer is the best defender due to effort, but he is not really a post defender. Of course, neither are Cook and Wagner at this point. Iowa fans are just going to have to accept growing pains.

Kreiner hasn’t shown much on defense. Wagner and Cook have their moments, but sometimes really get lost playing defense in or near the paint. I’m disappointed with Uhl’s defense too. Lots of teaching D is needed. Is Dale Jones coming back any time soon? I think Baer is probably the best defender, and a lot of that is just plain old solid 100% effort.
