[Herky] Uthoff: Woodbury relentless on glass

As you indicated, Iowa won't have a true center next year unless Kreiner comes in and surprises. It will be center by committee of power forwards. I could see Dom Uhl starting there initially since he presents such a match up problem for traditional big men. He made 7'2" 285 lb. Haas of Purdue look silly on two consecutive possessions. quickly returning Haas to the bench. Point guard will be the bigger problem with only Christian Williams or incoming Freshman Bohannon, so experience will be lacking. They (and Iowa) will struggle initially.

I TRIED TO TELL you folks that it takes the bigs several years to grow into their bodies. A redshirt season would have helped Woody, but of course we needed him and I’m sure he was promised he would play right away.

Who is our center next year (probably will have 2 4’s) and even more important, who will be the point guard?

And is Ellingson another Oglesby? Solid bench player, smart, decent D but underperforming in the expected 3 point performance area.

Don,

I fully agree with your observations and feel the same about him and have said so.

His game has raised a few levels from last year and from the beginning of the season.

If only he would jam/slam/dunk those shots at the basket and not try to finger roll them or get them stuck on the boards.

I think he averages at least a couple of easy shots missed every game.

Not sure why he does not leave his feet at all.

I would expect him to achieve a double-double every game from now on.

Go Hawkeyes

I thought Woodbury showed upper body strength in

grabbing away some of the rebounds that I don't

remember seeing in previous games,

It also looked to me in the last few games that he is

having more fun than he showed in previous years.

Has he changed or have I just become more observant?

Go Hawks!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS Thanks again, Sue, for these articles.
