[Herky] End of game

I was unhappy with Fran with how the seasons ended the last couple of years like many of us did.

But, I see the team improving and we will have really good years with the current crop of players.

I do not care too much for his reactions in reaction to bad calls, bad plays from the umps and his players and the opponent players.

He is a human being and is passionate about the game and his team and his players so deserves credit.

I do not think that tarnishes Iowa values.

I would love to have a coach that does not cheat or goes afoul with the rules and the law like many others have done and keep doing.

In all the interviews he has had after a -ve incident he has shown to be apologetic for his actions or stuck to his gun and beliefs.

I think Fran is honorable that way and gets my vote.

I agree that Fran is settled in at Iowa and won't be going anywhere for years.  The program seems to be on solid footing and the future looks bright.  This year is a tough transition after losing the long time starters such as Woodbury and Gesel but the freshmen seem to be adapting well - we'll see how they handle the Big Ten grind.  Fran does have a temper and is very demanding of his players but I don't see out of control behavior tendencies.

You don't expect Fran McCaffery to coach at Iowa for a long time? Would you care to elaborate? He has dramatically improved the program over Lickliter lows and the future with incoming recruits looks bright. Do you expect a "Bobby Knight" temper incident that will force his departure?

As my wife keenly noted Fran “regretted” the incident but never apologized. I still maintain he does not represent Iowa values that have made us so proud to be called a Hawkeye.

It seems like the reaction on the state/national level has been pretty mixed.  It certainly is not going to help Iowa's reputation.  I thing the responses  by Fran and Horner today were very good and will put this to rest pretty quickly.

Fortunately  Grayson Allen decided to trip yet another player and the focus is now on Coach K.

I disagree - to smack the ball out of his hands and score 2  when the margin is 10 -  thats the cheap shot.  Fran was already upset at the cheap foul and then .........

Several fans were mad, booing.  Fran is still pretty impulsive, but I think the cheap foul on Jock with a dozen seconds left (potentially a foul that could have resulted in injury) really got to him.

Weird ending.  Iowa gets a defensive rebound with 5 seconds remaining and big lead. Everyone starts to walk off but ND guy hacks at the ball and steal it away in effort to get last bucket. Classless move by the ND guy. But then Fran makes it worse by getting mad about this and has his team leave the court with out shaking hands.  Just as classless. It might have been a good idea for Fran to leave without shaking hands since he was mad but no one else was upset. Let the rest of the team shake hands. Especially when you have all the Iowa connections on ND team.   Let Jok talk with Horner, etc.
