[Herky] Two Deeps

Most schools will only have one kicker on scholarship so there are a pretty limited number for kickers.  And mamy schools will have other kickers that have walked on who are worthy of a scholarship when the guy with the scholarship leaves.  One article I read that was a few years old said that there are 40-50 scholarships given to kickers each year.  (It used to be around 4-5 a year). So in most cases a guy like Duncan will have to prove himself. Iowa certainly had a good situation for him to come in and do that.

What I don't understand is why Keith Duncan had to walk on. Surely there must have been many scholarship opportunities even if he was a kicker.
