IOWA CITY — Iowa’s home football games against Michigan and Iowa State
are sold out, as is its 8,200 student season-ticket allotment, the
school announced Friday.

With the sellout status, Iowa’s athletics department will stop selling
season tickets and three-game ticket packages. Single-game tickets
remain for the remaining five contests.

After a few years of struggling to fill the Kinnick Stadium student
section, Athletics Director Gary Barta said the student sellout status
represented a 35 percent boost over 2015.

“Student attendance plays a key role in the atmosphere within Kinnick
Stadium on game day,” Barta said in a statement. “And, we want our
students to enjoy the experience and become Hawkeye fans for life.”

Both games against Iowa State (Sept. 10) and Michigan (Nov. 12) are held
at night. Iowa has less than 2,500 tickets available for home dates
against border rival Wisconsin (Oct. 22) and five-time FCS champion
North Dakota State (Sept. 17). The Hawkeyes open against Miami (Ohio) on
Sept. 3. Other home games include Northwestern (Oct. 1) and Nebraska
(Nov. 25).

The Hawkeyes finished last year with a 12-2 overall record and won the
Big Ten West Division championship. Iowa’s only sellout was against
Minnesota on Nov. 14.

Iowa has relaxed postgame tailgating time limits for day games but not
for the two night games. The university also will implement a clear-bag
policy for 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches.
