I loved reading them in the 50’s and 60s in the Des Moines papers.  But I was a huge baseball fan, and still am.

 

I read some box scores at the online sites now, but not much.  I like to review the team and player statistics instead.

 

As a member of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), I do quite a lot of historical research and do sometimes study very old box scores as part of that research.  As a matter of fact, I wrote an essay recently on an interesting game played at County Stadium Milwaukee in 1953.  It will be published in a book later this year, as it has passed all the extensive peer and editing reviews.

I hate it that I cannot see box scores in our fishwrap. 

 

Of course, reading them would cause me to leave for work even later that my lateness now.
