I had to withstand mockery from my wife (“are you still refreshing your Hilton app?? Can you at least multi-task and do the dishes?) but after full day of monitoring (and refreshing), I managed to trade up my room from an airport area Hampton to an embassy suites right by the stadium. I used points instead of $$, so it didn’t bother me too much that I had to book Sat and Sun nights even though I am leaving Sunday. Prices were high ($300-ish a room, but points were oddly not any higher than normal).

In the end, that was the trick to scoring a walking distance room – booking two nights.

I also managed to score two pretty cheap lower bowl seats by waiting for a normal person to try to sell below the market rate just to get it sold. Unfortunately, I am in section 116 and will probably have to deal with mostly Sparty fans, and I am in Row 2 which sounds cool to my son, but god knows whether we will be able to see anything.

Go Hawks!

Peter

StubHub is your best bet for tickets right now, or another similar ticket broker.

Rooms are the tricky part although there have been some showing up after the outcome of the PSU/MSU game since the OSU and UM folks are out of it. Most of the downtown hotels that get openings are require 2 or 3 night stays.

Best bet is to keep checking hotel sites and don’t limit yourself to properties close to Indy. You might have to stay 25 or 30 miles out or more. I know when I looked last night one of the Hampton Inns (Indy East) had some availability and at least one of the downtown properties as well. I can tell you the downtown one was over $400 a night. The Hampton Inn –Indy East was more $170.

That’s all I got.

Just found out I might be able to escape weekend client meetings next weekend. So I might be able to make a solo road trip to Indy to enjoy smashmouth Iowa Hawkeye football up close and personal.

Anybody who might help by sharing your acumen with me at this late date? Best sources to buy single ticket?

Do you know if and where motel/hotel accommodations might still be available for Friday and Saturday nights?
