[Herky] Iowa - Dayton BB

I have not been disappointed in AW other than the early fouls (but my expectations  are not that he will score).  Woody is the only guy who knows how to play inside defense. When he went down Dayton dominated inside. When he was back playing Iowa started to make there run. He will never be much of a scorer (but he also never takes many shots) and his rebounding is average (he has 8 this games) but he plays good defense, is one of the few who really communicates out their on defense and brings the toughness this team needs.

I cannot disagree with you on any of your points.Early foul trouble of two senior starters put the game planning out the door in my opinion.I am extremely disappointed in AW as even as a senior player his game has not improved much.  A 7-footer who does not rank high in rebounds or be counted for many points in the paint.  gets out muscled a lot under the basket and those stupid fouls :-(  We will miss Gabe a lot.I do not know when we will stop trying to roll the ball into the basket rather than slamming it down.  We left at least 4-5 easy baskets on the rim.  I cringe and expect the ball to roll off every time.Not sure why Brady E. was pulled just after he got hot with a couple of quick threes.
One good thing about this early season loss is that it will be a good coaching experience and all the time the newbies got to play. Hoping that we will recruit a 6'10"+ and 260+ pound guy Hey, I can pray too :-)

Surprised there was nothing on this game.  They did not look good last night.  They shot well from 3 point range and they kept fighting. Beyond that I did not see much to get excited about.  Too much one one one which they don't do well. Way too impatient and did not run their offense. Lots of really bad/dumb forced shots. Perimeter defense is still bad. Same old stuff of Dayton guy blowing by Iowa guy like he was not there and more often than not drawing in four guys so he could kick it out to a wide open 3.  This is a poor rebounding team. Even when they get the rebound it seems like it is not clean. Some of this is very correctable and I am sure they will. But some of it is just inferior athletes .
