[Herky] Unbelievable!!!

Precisely, Dennis! I can't erase from my mind the cockeyed vision of said
Hawkeye defender smacking the football to the high Heavens and Iowa then
recovers it in the end zone.

I (ridiculously) conjure up a fantastic dream picture of our stalwart
defenders jumping up and down in glorious victory as the ref signals
Hawkeyes' ball and remaining seconds wind down.

I can envision the ensuing news media headline: "Hundreds of Hawkeye fans
hurt storming the field but they don't care a damn bit".

A silly dream but, in perspective, in time I hope we accept wonderful truth
we already have had a dream season --- with the incredible morale-boosting
reality of the Rose bowl against an excellent opponent and the fun of
watching Stanford's politically incorrect marching band perform it's
irreverent antics.

Let's enjoy the good times accepting that all the frustrating "what if?"
questions probably will forever haunt😑😕😯😣 the hidden recesses of every
rabid Hawkeye minds!

Go Hawkeyes now and forever, come what may😂! And tell my stubborn "what
if" mind to shut the FUG up!

I could add to ridiculously zany final play analysis by noting a credible
football ref told me there was a moment in the fatal play at the goal line
when forward progress of the ball carrier definitely was stopped and a
whistle should have ended an attempt at forward motion while--get this, a
Stanford lineman without doubt was quite visibly holding off a sure
tackler. Ah, the frustrating acumen of a good eye!

Jim Monahan, fighting analysis paralysis.
